Antioxidant Drink - Does It Really Slow Down Aging?

What are antioxidants and how are they useful to us? In order to understand this we must first take a sneak peek at what free radials are and how they are formed in our anatomy. Free radicals are unstable atoms of any element. These are atoms that have one less electron in their outermost shell and are constantly in a tussle with other nearby atoms to regain one lost electron in order to become stable again.

This is a continuous process because when the nearby atom loses an electron to stabilize another atom that atom becomes unstable - it becomes a 'free radical'. This losing and acquiring of electrons is an atomic process that harms living tissue and needs to be minimized. The losing and gaining of electrons by the atoms results in radiations of sub atomic particles that alter the composition of the tissue causing irreversible damage most of the time.

Free radicals are formed as a natural process of digestion and exercise. However, when the number of these unstable elements exceeds the number our system can handle - the damaging effect becomes apparent in the form of degenerative tissue and disease. Additional free radicals are created when we take any form of medication or suffer any injury and even when we overeat and drink. Aging is the most prominent result of the effect of excessive free radicals in our system.

In order to limit the formation of free radicals we need a huge supply of elements with a lot of free electrons. This way when an atom becomes unstable the free electrons bind themselves to the atom and stabilize it within micro seconds averting any damaging action. This is where antioxidants come in. Green tea is a great antioxidant drink that can take care of a number of free radicals.

A little research on which type of antioxidant drink is good for which part of the body will help one develop a routine and yes, a small 4 oz antioxidant drink once a day will definitely slow the process of aging and boost anyone's health a great deal.
